Some thoughts about the brain/mind/language interface*

چکیده
An historical survey of the approaches to the neural basis of language and the modularity question is summarized. Evidence from aphasia, event-related potentials (ERPs), Specific Language Impairments (SLIs) in children, asymmetry of abilities as shown by linguistic ‘savants’, sign language, separation of conceptual and linguistic knowledge, other disorders such as prosopagnosia and visual agnosia is presented to support the view that human language ability is autonomous and independent of other cognitive abilities with which it inter-

A review on EEG based brain computer interface systems feature extraction methods
The brain – computer interface (BCI) provides a communicational channel between human and machine. Most of these systems are based on brain activities. Brain Computer-Interfacing is a methodology that provides a way for communication with the outside environment using the brain thoughts. The success of this methodology depends on the selection of methods to process the brain signals in each pha...

متن کاملInfluence of Bidel's mystical thoughts on the construction of specific compounds
In his poetic and prose works, Bidel talks about both mystical views and his mystical experiences and adherence to the teachings of mysticism. At the level of the language of Bidel's poetry and prose, there are several factors in complexity. One of the complexities of language is the existence of "special compounds." In this paper, we examine and analyze how Bidel's mystical thoughts influence ...
متن کاملThomas Reid on Singular Thought
In my dissertation, I offer a new reading of Thomas Reid's philosophy of mind, in which I bring attention to his so far overlooked view that we can entertain a singular thought about an individual substance – we can think directly about a particular object. What emerges is a picture of Reid's theory as psychologically sophisticated, anticipating some very recent and influential views in empiric...
متن کاملBrain. Conscious and Unconscious Mechanisms of Cognition, Emotions, and Language
Conscious and unconscious brain mechanisms, including cognition, emotions and language are considered in this review. The fundamental mechanisms of cognition include interactions between bottom-up and top-down signals. The modeling of these interactions since the 1960s is briefly reviewed, analyzing the ubiquitous difficulty: incomputable combinatorial complexity (CC). Fundamental reasons for C...
